Calligraphy & typography hugging each other
In the 18th Century, English Roundhand calligraphy (1710s to the 1750s) and Modern Romans such as Bodoni (1798 as the year Giambattista Bodoni) and Didot (1784 by Firmin Didot) co-existed together. Both are based on high contrast. Both are influenced by technological advancements in paper quality and ink reproduction allowing higher levels of print marking and stroke precision. And in my opinion, both calligraphy and typography are influencing each other. This cross influence still exists today, and I'm visually representing it by calligraphy and typography (in this case Roundhand and Modern Roman lettering) hugging each other.
project NAMING
The message of this lettering project is homage to Beyoncé and her song called “Cozy” from the album Renaissance released in 2022.
